Carroll County Coroner Keith Hancock confirmed to The WOLF News on Tuesday the death of student Michael Ghee is under open investigation.
“It will be approximately 90 days before we will have the results of the autopsy from the State Medical Examiner. So, at this time we have no information to release,” said Hancock.
On Wednesday, April 3rd an all-student announcement was communicated to UWG students via email and also posted to UWG social media with the following message confirming Ghee’s death.

The WOLF News began investigating rumors of a student’s death occurring on campus on March 27th. Twitter user @JasLynn__N tweeted on March 26th, “Sheesh, I was just hooping with this man RIP. #uwg,” presumably confirming claims made to The WOLF News that Ghee died playing a sporting event. The user did not respond to The WOLF News’ request for additional information.
The WOLF News will continue to provide information on further details regarding Ghee’s death as they come available.
