Final Exam season is here! Ever present, ever frightening. Studying is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean it should be impossible.
We here at WOLF Radio have asked students all over the University of West Georgia Carrollton campus where their favorite places are to study both on and off campus.
We also list out the general and ideal locations to make sure all students know and understand the options available for them.
Starting with Julian Bryant, WOLF Radio’s own Program Director, “It honestly depends, sometimes I like to go home and write my papers, though the library’s pretty nice too.”
The library was obviously one of the most popular locations for all the students asked, regardless of major or place of residence.
This is particularly true for the students on campus majoring in English, Psychology, Philosophy and other such fields.
Though, a surprising amount of students, a total of ten, say that they prefer studying in their residential halls, apartments or family homes.
The TLC seems to be more popular for students majoring in science or mathematics, though the facilities are open for all students.
A Biology major said this about the TLC, “It’s a great environment if you’re looking for a quiet place to study. The late night hours it stays open are also a big plus.”
The building contains numerous amounts of empty workshop rooms, as well as a Packshack that contains snacks and drinks for any students who need a break from their studies.
The library funnily enough had one installed on their second floor, which now gives students two options in the building to get a quick recharge.
Kate Fussell, an English major praised the library when asked, “On campus, I love to study at the library with some coffee! Off campus, I love to either study in my bed, or this cute place in Downtown Carrollton, Corner Cafe!”
The newly finished Humanities building is obviously the ideal and favorite place to study for students that are majoring in Art and Music.
Art major, Kamal Saucier notes that it is a good place to get work done, “I don’t actually hear much from the music students when doing work which is good.”
Though the building was renovated with those two majors in mind, students can always verify if there are practice or study rooms that could be open to the public.
The building is equipped with a lobby on the first floor that serves for students to rest and work between classes if they so choose.
Off-campus options are also pretty expansive and relatively available.
Most students have stated their enjoyment for Gallery Row, a coffee shop in the Carrollton Square. It is a coffee shop with a relaxing atmosphere where students have spent many a night completing work.
Keeping in line with coffee shops, Buzzards has also been received well by students and professors alike.
Overall, Final Exams are a difficult time every semester, whether students are prepared for them or not. It’s important for our students to have places where they feel comfortable to do their best and succeed.
From us here at WOLF Radio, have an amazing, safe and successful Finals Week!!
