WOLFstock 2025 is going to be one for the books. This year is WOLF Radio’s 15th anniversary, so you better believe we are going to bring the very best to celebrate.
To kick off the festivities, I sat down with M.C. Scobes and asked a few questions about his experience with music and his excitement for WOLFstock!
What made you want to pursue music?
Scobes’ has a palpable love of music and it comes from his childhood. “Music gave me my voice. Back when I was young, being diagnosed with Autism.”
Scobes remarks on how his family observed him stimming and speaking in a different way. Though when they saw him start to sing along, they knew music would help him really find himself.
He speaks about how music gave him a voice to move forward, and he wants to share his form of music to inspire others.
How long have you wanted to be a musician?
Scobes always knew he wanted to have a career that had something related to music.
“It took me until, sometime in middle school.” Scobes talks about how rap in middle school helped him start thinking more about music.
Though he does say it really took him until high school to know what he wanted to start doing with his music.
What genre, aside from the one you play, would you do?
I gave Scobes a bit of a hard question, but he had a pretty immediate answer.
“That’s a really good question. The genre I am currently in is Hip Hop. Though I did tell myself that I was gonna see about trying to change it up a little bit, so I don’t stay in just one genre.”
Scobes went on to talk about how he definitely still likes the genre he’s in, but he wants to start doing some music of different categories.
He talks about not wanting to be restricted in what he can make.
What is your dream artist collab?
Our favorite Emcee took his time with this question, as I only gave him the option for one collab.
He thought carefully for a minute, going back and forth between a few artists in his head.
“One of my dream collaborators, and I’m gonna be blunt with this, Erykah Badu.”
I told him how exciting that collab would be, and he laughed agreeing.
How did the people around you, your culture, or environment affect the music you make?
Scobes talks about how important religion has been to his music, and even his creative process.
He discussed how being surrounded by his family was an environment that helped him develop a sense of expression through words and music.
I was able to quickly talk about the drive that artists have and how their backgrounds influence them and help them become great, which is something Scobes has done in spades.
What are you most excited about for WOLFstock?
Scobes talked about how excited he is for his second WOLFstock performance, and how exciting it is that he gets to play new music for us this go-around.
He also discussed how excited he is to show some more love to independent artists.
We have that in common, as one of the greatest parts of WOLFstock is being able to showcase talented individuals from our area and have a great time as the world gets to know their music!
With that being said, make sure you join us for WOLFstock 2025 on April 21st, WOLF Radio’s 15th year anniversary!!
Stay tuned for our next artist spotlight!!
