College Radio Day 2025: UWG’s Celebration of Student Voices

College Radio Day has always been about one thing: giving the mic back to the people. It’s the chance for student voices to be heard, for creativity to shine, and for campus culture to come alive in real time. This year, WOLF Radio, WSN, and WITs are teaming up to make it bigger than ever.

We’re kicking things off a little earlier than usual, not just in the day, but in the calendar. Since UWG will be on fall break during the official first Friday of October, we’re celebrating on Tuesday, September 30th at 2:00 PM, and running all the way through Wednesday, October 1st at 2:00 PM. Yep, that’s a full 24 hours of live broadcasting, nonstop.

The Kickoff: Grassy Triangle Vibes

At 2:00 PM, the heart of campus becomes the stage. The Grassy Triangle will be buzzing with energy: live broadcasts, games, and students hanging out between classes. Everyone’s invited to swing by, tune in, and feel the energy of college radio live and unfiltered.

This is the perfect chance to see what radio looks like when it’s taken outside of the studio and dropped right in the middle of campus life. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick game or staying for the whole show, the kickoff is designed to bring people together.

A Throwback with a Twist: Kickball Tournament

Once the sun starts to dip, things get even more fun. At 7:00 PM, WOLF Radio, WSN, and WITs will face off in a good old-fashioned kickball tournament at the intramural field. Anyone can come watch, cheer, and enjoy the spirited chaos of student media battling it out on the field.

For students, it’s not just about kickball—it’s about celebrating community, competition, and the friendships that make UWG’s campus so unique.

All Night, All Day: Broadcast

After the kickoff, the event shifts, where the 24 hour broadcast begins. While this part is just for station members, the results will be live on air for everyone to hear. Expect everything from alumni throwback hours, to specialty shows like Eli’s Spooky Show at 3 AM, to sunrise yoga soundtracking your morning.

The lineup is packed:

  • Alumni Hour – stories, memories, and music from those who built the station.
  • The Evening Prowl, Sports Pack, Night Howl, Blue Moon, Playbook, Hollywolf, Afternoon Growl – shows covering everything from music vibes to sports talk.
  • Even a Sunrise Yoga session at 6:00 AM to welcome the morning with calm and balance.

It’s radio in its rawest form: students staying up late, fueling creativity, and keeping the airwaves alive with fresh voices.

Why It Matters

College Radio Day is a reminder that every voice matters. It’s about asking: why does your voice matter? and how has college radio allowed you to express yourself? For many of us, it’s the first place we’ve gotten to truly share our thoughts, experiment with content, and connect with an audience.

College radio isn’t just about music or talk, it’s about community. It’s about creating space for voices that might not always be heard. It’s about freedom, fun, and expression.
