CARROLLTON, Georgia –WOLF Radio in the School of Communications, Film, and Media announces a partnership with Printer’s Ale Manufacturing for a “Drink Responsibly” campaign for the second year in a row. During the 2022 home football season WOLF Radio will work alongside Printer’s in promoting safe drinking at the WOLF Sports Network tailgates.
“It is no secret that underage drinking is a problem at higher ed institutions,” said Shawn Isaacs WOLF Radio general manager. “We hope through the radio station’s tailgates, we can begin to promote a message that helps make [students] UWG and Carrollton experience safe and rewarding.
Radio has long been a free unregulated outlet for beer and alcohol advertisement. Only a 2003 self-regulation by the Beer Institute, prohibiting ads to any radio program in which 30% was under the age of 21, stifles advertising. Therefore, the partnership between WOLF Radio and Printer’s Ale furthers the initiative by promoting safe practices and discouraging all underage drinking
Drinking and Driving NEVER pair well and Printer’s Ale wants to remind you to call for a ride before you drive,” said the Printer’s Ale team. “If you’ve had a little too much to drink, be sure to wait, hydrate, and surround yourself by people you trust.”
According to a national survey, posted on niaaa.nih.gov, almost 53 percent of full-time college students ages 18 to 22 drank alcohol in the past month and about 33 percent engaged in binge drinking during that same time frame. The most recent statistics from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) estimate that about 1,519 college students ages 18 to 24 die from alcohol-related unintentional injuries, including motor vehicle crashes.
