Limestone Crumbles under Wolves

The Wolves went into Saturday’s game hot after their impressive victory in week one. They kept their momentum going with a huge blowout victory vs Limestone, 42-14.

Led by Junior quarterback Willie Candler and Senior running Devontae Jackson, the Wolves jumped out to an early lead and never let go. The Wolves forced a fumble and recovery on the Limestone 44 yard line. Jackson scored a 28 yard run to give the Wolves the early 7-0 lead, followed by a passing touchdown and a running touchdown by Willie Candler put the Wolves 21-0. Limestone got a touchdown with no time remaining in the first quarter to make it 21-7, but the Wolves added another touchdown when Willie Candler hit Thomas Lester over the middle for a 11 yard touchdown and the Wolves took a 28-7 lead into the half.

Limestone struck first in the second half with a 25 yard pass for a touchdown. The Wolves answered back with a 2 yard touchdown run by Jackson to put the lead back at 21. The final blow was delivered late in the third quarter when Candler hit Lester again across the middle for a 15 yard touchdown pass, give the Wolves a 42-14 victory.

Willie Candler finished 21 for 28, 303 yards, and 4 touchdowns including one rushing. Devontae Jackson rushed 14 times for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Wolves defense had 3 takeaways, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 Interception.

The Wolves will be away this weekend vs Albany State and the following Weekend will be home again for their Gulf South Conference opener vs Florida Tech.
