Every first Friday in October, college radio stations across the nation (and the world) unite to celebrate College Radio Day, a moment to highlight the power of student run media, showcase the creativity on campus, and remind everyone why college radio still matters in 2025.
At its core, college radio is more than just music and talk shows. It’s a community. It’s where students discover their voice, share their passions, and connect with people who might otherwise never cross paths. Whether you’re tuning in to hear the latest indie tracks, breaking campus news, or a wild late-night show that can only happen in college, you’re experiencing something real, raw, and authentic.
Why College Radio Still Matters
In a world where algorithms decide much of what we see and hear, college radio provides something rare, unfiltered human connections. It’s run by students, for students and that means it reflects the diverse voices, cultures, and ideas that make college life so unique. It gives future journalists, broadcasters, musicians, and leaders a platform to practice their craft and experiment without limits.
This is authenticity. We’re sharing things we love, not in hopes that it will blow up, but because of the raw passion that comes from pure enjoyment. We don’t just create background noise, but a space for students to connect, share perspectives, and to give everyone a sense of belonging.

For Students and Community
College Radio Day isn’t just about the music—it’s about the community. It’s proof that student voices matter, creativity matters, and sometimes the best part of college is the random show you stumble onto at 2 a.m.
While the official day of celebration is October 3rd, UWG will be on fall break October 2nd-3rd, so we here at the station will be celebrating Tuesday, September 30th.
Stop by on your way to class, Starbucks, or on your way home and be a part of College Radio Day!
