CARROLLTON, Georgia – WOLF Radio in the School of Communication, Film, and Media earned 4 wins in 2 College Media Association national competitions. On Friday, October 15 the College Media Association (CMA) held their virtual Film and Audio Festival awards. The station took second in both the Audio Creative category and Best DJ Personality. That following Saturday WOLF Radio took third in the Best Social Media Presence and second for Four-Year Radio Station of the Year in the CMA Pinnacle Awards.
“That is twice in 2021 WOLF Radio has been recognized as the second-best station in the nation,” said Shawn Isaacs general manager. “Our students are passionate and deserve every bit of these national recognitions.”
The CMA Film and Audio works to encourage and promote excellence in student work in several categories. WOLF Radio’s second place in Audio Creative was through a compilation of all station imaging. These were audio projects that air throughout the station’s daily programming. Once again WOLF Radio earned the Best DJ Personality, this time for student Dalton Browning’s on-air work. This is Dalton’s second recognition this year taking a production win last spring. The big Pinnacle Awards were major accomplishments reaffirming WOLF Radio’s experiential prowess. The students running The WOLF Sports Instagram took third for Best Social Media Presence. In the main Organizational Winners, the station took second for Four-Year Radio Station of the Year edging out North Carolina State.
Radio has been honored twice this year after earning an Honorable Mention in the BEA Signature Station Award in April. These CMA awards come to the station by beating both public and private institutions such as Pepperdine University, Ithaca College, and the University of Texas at Arlington. “Leading students is always a challenge, but when I see them walking away from competitions with these awards, it really shows that I am doing the right thing,” said Michael Tucker operations manager. “I really am training the future of this industry.”
