The Choctaws ranked #1 in the conference, extended their win streak to ten matches after winning against the Wolves.
The Wolves lined up in its usual 4-3-3 formation while the opposition played in a 3-5-2.
The Wolves were on the hunt from the opening whistle and found the opening goal just four minutes into the match. Left-winger Karley Baker played a beautiful through ball into the path of Madison Cobb. The opposition goalkeeper came out to collect the ball but realized too late that it was too far out for her, and Cobb shot the ball into the bottom corner of the goal.
Despite the early goal, the Choctaws were determined to dominate the half and pull a goal back. They finished the first half with 15 shots, seven of which were on target. The Wolves took five shots and only put one on target, but they put that chance away. The Wolves also finished the half with only 43 percent of the possession.
The second half started like the first half finished. Both teams were able to create a plethora of chances, but neither team could find the back of the net.
The Choctaws finally scored a goal in the 63rd minute after Katie Taylor picked the ball up and beat a West Georgia defender on the dribble, found space to shoot from outside the box, and sent the ball into the bottom far post.
It looked like the Wolves would be able to hold onto a draw to finish the 90 minutes, but a fluke of a defensive corner that saw Jackie Donaldson catch and drop the ball in the penalty area led to an easy shot for the Choctaws. The match finished 2-1 in favor of the Choctaws.
The Wolves’ overall record falls to 4-7-1 and their conference record falls to 1-4-0.
