WOLFstock Artist Spotlight #3: blkpool!

By: Yade Medina

WOLFstock is getting closer and closer everyday! That means that we still have quite a few artists to talk to so you can know all of the cool people we have coming your way.

This week we sat down with blkpool and had a very cool and down to earth conversation!

What are you most excited about for WOLFstock?:

Is a question I usually opt to ask at the end of the conversation, but we decided that we have to keep it fresh for you guys, as every artist is totally different!

blkpool expressed about being excited to perform about somewhere where was able to make strides in his music.

He actually graduated undergraduate right here at UWG! He noted that he learned a lot here and was excited to come back to a place where he experienced so much.

“I didn’t know where I was gonna be down the line, like 5 year. To be able to go backand participate in something that I had done from the other side like WOLFstock is super cool.”

What made you want to pursue music?:

blkpool noted his experience playing in the orchestra as a kid.

“Growing up the first thing I ever played was the recorder. Which was a little baby woodwind instrument.”

He talked about signing up for orchestra after that, wanting to do the violin, but when his teacher handed him a bass, he said that is where his path with music began!

Since then, he has gone into produce music, and notes how he has always loved it and how big of a part it played on his life.

He then even mentioned his time here with us and how music really made him want to be a part of anything having to do with broadcasting.

blkpool talked about how much it keeps him going and how much of his energy comes from the music that he plays or produces.

What is your biggest goal as a musician or producer?

He stated that his biggest goal is really to do music to a point where it can support him for living and keep that as a lifestyle.

Then, from a more creative standpoint, as someone who cares very deeply for the art for, he wants to continue to collaborate with other creators who share his love and drive for what they do.

“As long as I can continue to do that, I truly think I will be fulfilled with music.”

What is a Dream Collaboration?

blkpool decided pretty quickly on Solange and Flying Lotus.

“If they called me today, I would drop everything.”

We laughed as I agreed that I, too, would drop everything if Solange called me to collaborate.

What is a genre you have thought of exploring?

He then discussed how he had always listened to Punk Rock and it was something he wanted to attempt in the back of his mind.

He felt that it as something he had not collected the necessary skills for at the time. Though, now with the different genres he has tried, he realizes he has done quite a bit and has garnered many skills.

Expanding on his previous answer he discusses Dadrock might even be an option for him to explore in his music journey.

How would you say your environment has affected your music?:

” I try to surround myself in a community where musically, we strive to make each other better. We just love being around one another and coming up with new ideas.”

“If I surround myself with someone musically it has to be because we are trying to be better musicians, but it should also be a good vibe.”

He discussed how being in collaborative spaces was perfect to help an artist grow and even to just make friends, showcasing music and just having fun.

What has been your favorite memory with music?

blkpool talked about a beatset they had done. One where he had heard B.O.B. had been seen around.

He had then began walking with his girlfriend after his set, having a pretty good time and feeling confident that he did well.

When all of a sudden, he saw B.O.B. walking down the same street. He had complimented blkpool on his set, and that added three months of stress free confidence and self-assurance to blkpool as they continued to make music.

“You always question yourself: Am I good enough? That added like three months of me not doubting myself, like B.O.B. said my music was cool.”

We then talked about how excited we were to see each other and the coolest artists ever playing at WOLFstock 2025!

In case you have forgotten, WOLFstock is on April 21st, on WOLFRadio’s 15th anniversary!

We are so excited, so please come out and have fun!
