The 2021 NFL Draft starts on Thursday April 29th and we here at The WOLF Sports could not be more excited. This year’s draft promises to be one of, if not, the most talented drafts in recent history. There are many players that are possible first round prospects that can be taken in the second round and that just goes to show how much talent is in this draft class. We have done many mock drafts and today we will be sharing our top five picks with you. So without further ado, here are the first five picks of The WOLF Sports 2021 NFL Mock Draft.

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence – QB Clemson

Trevor Lawrence number one to Jacksonville just makes sense. Besides the fact that we all pretty much already know he’s going number one, Trevor is quite possibly the most skilled quarterback in this draft. Some of the pros for Lawrence is his accuracy and also his cannon of an arm can make him an excellent starter in the NFL. He also has the intelligence to be able to read a defense and make the right throw. An only weakness that could possibly cause him problems is that he can sometimes lock into his primary read. But if Jacksonville surrounds Trevor with more weapons look for them to create some noise in the next few years.

  1. New York Jets: Zach Wilson – QB BYU

This is probably the most debated pick inside of our studio. There are some of us who view him as a number two pick and then others who don’t even think of him as a top five quarterback. But this is the same situation as Trevor Lawrence, meaning that everyone knows that Wilson is going second overall. Some upsides to this pick are that Wilson is extremely mobile, smart, and instinctive and does a great job of commanding his offense. Negatives for Wilson are that he doesn’t have that stature that you would want in a quarterback and also throughout his career at BYU he went 0-5 against teams with 10 wins or more which could be a major red flag.

  1. San Francisco 49ers: Justin Fields – QB Ohio State

This could possibly be one of the most impactful picks of the entire draft. San Francisco is no longer willing to commit to Jimmy Garoppolo and are looking for their next franchise quarterback. With the possibility of Justin Fields going into a Kyle Shanahan offense your eyes have to light up. Justin is a quarterback that has the ability to move outside the pocket and run if he needs to and can also make an extremely accurate deep throw. There might have to be some growth for Fields before he can succeed in San Francisco but this is a pick that we are excited about the most.

  1. Atlanta Falcons: Kyle Pitts – TE Florida

Personally, this is the pick that I want to happen more than anything. Thinking of an offense that has Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, and Kyle Pitts is an absolute dream come true for any new head coach. First year head coach Arthur Smith revitalized the Tennessee Titans offense and giving him a player like that in Atlanta can possibly turn that team around. Pitts, a 6’5” 245 pound, is an amazingly athletic catcher who has been described as a receiver in a tight end’s body. He has quick releases off the line and has a tremendous ability to track the ball through the air. One negative aspect to Pitt’s game is that he isn’t as good a blocker as he is a receiver. If he works on that aspect of his game he could be an elite player in the next few years.

  1. Cincinnati Bengals: Ja’Marr Chase – WR LSU

The Bengals have a difficult decision to make here at the fifth pick. They either take Penei Sewell, the tackle out of Oregon, or they take Ja’Marr Chase, receiver out of LSU. Sewell will give Joe Burrow more protection, especially since he is coming off of knee surgery. But we have the Bengals taking Chase with this pick. Chase and Burrow are former LSU teammates and during the 2019 season Chase racked up over 1,000 yards receiving with 20 touchdowns. Since Cincinnati gave up their number one target in AJ Green to the Arizona Cardinals, Burrow is going to need a new weapon and it makes the most sense to get that LSU Connection back together.
