Open Letter To A WIT – Mitch

I once was a WIT. I know how it feels. I’m just like you—a simple college student trying to make the most of the opportunities that arise. I have had the opportunity of being the WIT Coordinator for the past 3 years, and I have seen many people come and go. I’ve taught students who spent hours of their time investing in this station to maximize their chance to succeed here, and I’ve taught those who join the program simply for “something to do” (which isn’t wrong, you do you). But those who joined the program to move up, to learn more, to look for opportunities to grow? They’ve succeeded. I know how it feels to be busy. I work 2 jobs, am a full time student, and participate in my fraternity. But I also know I wouldn’t be in the position I’m in if it wasn’t for the drive to be successful.

So my challenge to all of you; WITs, future WITs, and the casual reader: stay focused, stay determined, and stay positive. Good things come to those who wait, but better things come to those who take initiative. The WOLF has become my home away from home, and has given me valuable experience and invaluable friendships. I’ve been a WIT before; I’ve been through the program. I know it can seem difficult at first, and though I do my best to make it enjoyable, sometimes you’ll question if it is even worth it. But take it from me, and the many who have come through the program already; you’ll never regret it.

-Mitch
